244th History 1966 |
Gummed Label was the name for Annual Field Training 1966, with the purpose of increasing mobilization and operational effectiveness by providing realistic training. Relay points were set up at Camp Rilea, Wickiup Mountain, TVOR, PIA, Crown Point and Gordon Butte, Oregon; Augspurger Mountain, Lone Pine Butte, Ahtanum Ridge and Yakima Fireing Center, Washington. WESTCOMMRGN exercise, Hot Ashes II, added that realism to AFT 66.
The 244th Radio Relay Squadron held its second annual Noncommissioned Officer Dining-In 15 April 1966, with guest speaker Brigadier General Gordon L. Doolittle.
Staff Sergeant George L. Coulsey was selected as the Outstanding Unit Airman of 1966.
