For Annual Field Training 1969, the 252nd Mobile Communications Group, participated in a Western Tactical Air Control System exercise WESTACS I, located on Utah's Bonneville Salt Flats, Wendover AFB, Utah. This exercise stretched from Gowen ANGB, Idaho to Wendover AFB, Utah where the 252nd MCGp was headquartered. The 244th MCSq was headquartered at Mountain Home, Idaho, with relay sites at Ray Mountain, Bliss, Sugarloaf Ridge and Conners/Malta Mountain, Idaho.
The fifth Noncommissioned Officer Dining-In was held 18 April 1969 with quest speaker Mr. L. D. "Pat" Cody, Director of Aerospace Education, Pacific Region, USAF - Civil Air Patrol.
The 244th Mobile Communications Squadron recognized Staff Sergeant Gary J. Takis as the Outstanding Unit Airman of 1969.
During a state emergency (snow storm) 29 January to 3 February 1969, the 244th supported Douglas County with a Sno-Cat crew. Master Sergeant Arthur W. Luft and Master Sergeant Richard S. Mill delivered 7,500 pounds of hay and feed to stranded livestock.
Application for a unit emblem was made on 20 January 1969. "The globe, half in daylight, the other half in darkness, symbolizes time. The globe on the blue background is symbolic of aerospace communications. The red lightning links the day and the night, and extends the dimensions of the world and beyond. The lash also denotes rapidity of action when called upon for the defense of our country. The Latin inscription, 'Dic quando et ubi,' is leterally translated, 'Say when and where.'
Approval of the unit emblem was received on 9 May 1969. However, reproduction of the actual patch for wear on the uniform would not be accomplished until 1990.
